REFLECTIONS FOR THE NEW YEAR
I love this reflective piece by Linda Miller. I think it speaks to some deep thoughts that some of us might have as we face another new year. Thanks for sharing your reflections with BLESSED, Linda!
by Linda Tracy Miller
Another grain of sand thru hour glass,
Marking the passage of time.
Another turn of the calendar page,
In the life that I think of as mine,
But does life ever belong to a person?
No, we only borrow for a time.
A body to use on this planet,
Before changing into one that’s divine.
The first gift that we have been given
Is the one of a chance to explore.
The wonders of taste, sight and hearing,
Of good food, rainbows and songbirds.
The second is that wonderful feeling
You are loved and all’s right with the world.
Later you learn things are not perfect,
At least not here on this earth.
But He makes up for the pain with forgiveness
And the miracle of new lives and rebirth.
Wonderful friends and companions,
Sorrow that is tempered with mirth.
So I thank Him again for His Mercy,
This life He has given me for a while.
And ask again for His Guidance,
To make my time here something worthwhile.
