MY ONE WORD 2011 WRAP-UP

Last year I chose the word “focus” for my “One Word 2011.”

Focus 2011. I wish I could say that I stayed focused all year, but I must confess that it was a battle.

I will admit that I chose “Focus 2011” because of the struggle that I had experienced in the last few years with some major distractions to my work as a freelance writer. But I’m not ready to pull out all of my “dirty laundry” and share why I struggled with focus so much—that would be “TMI” (too much info), as my daughter would say.

Seek first God’s Kingdom. I will tell you that after a year of “Focus 2011,” I did have a measure of success solving my focus problem. And the answers came as I chose to “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need” (Matthew 6:33 NLT).

As I chose to seek God first, He really did give me everything I needed to go forward with the work that I believe He’s called me to do.

And this year, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to go forward with writing for publication in ways that I never dreamed possible. I mean, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible” (Matt. 19:36).
