CHRISTMAS SONG REFLECTION: HALLELUJAH

For the Lord God Omnipotent reigneth. Hallelujah! ("Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's Messiah)

A BLESSED reader shared this Christmas moment with me, and I thought you would enjoy it.

On Christmas morning at 3:25 a.m., a strange, distant song woke me. I sat up in my bed and listened to see if it was a dream. I reached over in the dark to see if my wife was still in bed to be sure she wasn’t up on the Internet. Convinced that the rapture had not occurred, I tiptoed through the house searching for the source of the “Hallellujah Chorus.”

After going room to room, I heard a barely perceptible song coming from the closet, housing our washer and dryer.  As I opened the folding door, the song got louder, and the chorus, “Hallellujah, light has come … ” played three or four more times, before I found the battery-powered radio that had come on moments before.

Instead of frustration in my sleepy state, I was blessed that God had sent His own song to me. And after turning the radio off, I found myself awake and wondering about the moment. The true message of Christmas was a gift to me long before the grandkids were up seeking their gifts from Santa.

Hallelujah! Light has come!

A Savior who will set us free

A Promise for those who believe ...
