CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN: LOST IN DECEMBER?
Lost in the stress of the Christmas season? Sometimes the holidays can overwhelm us with memories of the past, pressures of our current problems, and even fears of the future.
Song. So, to get my thoughts on the right track before I focused on my "to-do" list today, I watched the video of "Lost in December" by David Hodges, featuring Hannah Hodges. This song brought back some great Christmas memories for me, and it helped me focus on some of the special Christmas moments of the past. I first heard this song, written by David Hodges, during a production of "The Light" a few years ago at The Summit Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Promise. I hope the message of this song and the promises in God's Word will help you focus today on the "real message" of Christmas.
Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now he's there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls! (Hebrews 12:2-3 MSG)
What is the "real meaning" of Christmas for you?
