I Love The Way You Hold Me!

"Did you see how close he was to her? Like spoons in drawer. Like flame on candlewick. Like words on paper. And we all know what words they are ..." (Opa!

As two older ladies observed a young couple coasting down a Greek island road on a bicycle together, one of them commented, "Did you see how close he was to her? Like spoons in drawer. Like flame on candlewick. Like words on paper. And we all know what words they are ..." (Opa!)

When I heard this comment on a movie I watched recently, I had to write it down. I loved the metaphors used to describe the intimacy of romance.

Most of us desire that kind of closeness in our romantic relationships. Yet many things can come between a couple to separate the intimacy that they once enjoyed together.

The same tragic thing can happen in our faith. The troubles or the pleasures of the world around us can pull us apart from our relationship with the Lord.

We may not be able to control our relationship with another human being. But God's Word promises, "Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world" (James 4:8 NLT).

How do you draw near to God, when He seems far away?
