Struggling with Self-Discipline?
"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it" (Hebrews 12:8 TNIV).
Having a struggle with self-discipline right now? I am. I've made a commitment to work out at the fitness center five days a week. But everything inside of me resists that decision some mornings.
I'd rather be walking the trails here in the Village, but a problem with my feet has made that impossible. So, I checked out the Coronado fitness center here, and it provides the exercise I need without the stress on my feet.
Once again this morning, I fought against the urge to crawl back into bed. But this promise from Hebrews came to my mind: "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."
Somehow, that Word gave me the strength I needed to get dressed and start moving toward the door.
So, if you're struggling with self-discipline this morning, I pray this Word helps you, too.
