Facing Life Changes

“Lord, where we are wrong, make us willing to change; where we are right, make us easy to live with” (Peter Marshall).

Change seems to be more difficult to embrace as I get older. My first major move from my hometown broke my heart, as I left behind my extended family and longtime friends. But this last move to a new community broke me in many other ways—body, soul, mind, and spirit.

I’ve learned a lot from the changes in my life. Most of all, I’ve learned that I can’t do this thing called “change” in my own strength.

In his quote about change, Peter Marshall points us to a truth—or rather “The Truth”—that I need to be reminded of every day. The Lord will help us, if we will just ask for help.

Philippians 4:13 promises, “Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am” (MSG).
