Experiencing God's Pleasure
"I believe God made me for a purpose, but he also made me fast. And when I run I feel His pleasure? (Eric Liddell).
Author Mary Larmoyeux reminded me of Olympic hero, Eric Liddell, in her article, “Stepping Stones to God,” from her grandparent’s blog, The Grand Connection. In the movie Chariots of Fire, Liddell took a courageous stand for his religious convictions, when he refused to compete in the Olympics on a Sunday.
Not only did Liddell believe that God had a purpose for his life, he gave us an even closer view of his faith when he stated what he believed to give God pleasure in his life: "I believe God made me for a purpose, but he also made me fast. And when I run I feel His pleasure?”
Often when people ask me why I write, I am reminded of Eric Liddell’s comment in Chariots of Fire: “When I run, I feel His pleasure.”
Romans 12:1 tells us, “...in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.”
What greater motivation purpose could I find to do what I sense is part of God’s purpose for my own life? “When I (write), I feel His pleasure.”

Do you know God's purpose for your life? Have you ever experienced His pleasure?

It was great to start my morning off today by watching the clip from Chariots of Fire! Thanks for posting it. I think my ultimate purpose in life is to have fellowship with God and bring Him glory.

I agree, Mary! It's "not about us," is it? Thanks for your comment!
