Speaking to My Soul
“By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life” (Psalm 42:8 TNIV).
The psalmist wrote this thought right in the middle of a spiritual battle. He felt alone, and he feared that God had forgotten him. He wondered why God hadn’t rescued him from his enemy (9).
Why? He also didn’t understand why he couldn’t get out of his depressed state of mind. So, in the midst of his emotional and mental battle, he questioned his own soul. “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me?” (11).
Hope. Then, he responded to his own questions, and he spoke words of life to his soul: “Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God” (11).
Soul rein. Sometimes I must speak to my soul—take hold of the reins of my thoughts and steer them toward the truth.
I speak to my soul a lot lately. I can’t claim that the negative thoughts never come anymore. But I’m getting a firm grip on the truth with God’s help.
I’m thankful for God’s firm Hand of discipline, guiding me with His unconditional love and words of life.

"Speaking to my Soul" is in the same vein as the direction God is guiding me now. Renewing my mind. Holding my bible in my hand and saying "I am who this book says I am". So many words spoken over us growing up, speaking the truth to our Souls now, is replacing lies with truth. Replacing weeds for beautiful, lovely, sweetkt scented flowers. Thank you, Karen for your faithfulness.

That is really the theme of this whole blog--focusing on our blessings in Christ. My mind tends to get distracted by all the worries of this world. Thanks for your encouraging word, MerryLand.
