How’s Multi-tasking Working for You?
I'm not very good at multi-tasking. I'm not so sure it works too well for my daughter Tara either. She seems fairly frustrated when I call, and she's trying to cook dinner, hold a screaming baby, listen to a whining preschooler, deal with two squabbling little boys, and talk on the phone, all at the same time. I can't even seem to talk on the phone very well while I work on the computer.
Also, when I'm in a negative mindset, nothing seems very positive. If I'm worried about all the details of my life, I don't seem to be able to focus on my blessings at all. Yet, when I'm listening to positive, encouraging music or counting my blessings, my worries seem to fade into the background.
Worry
How can we just stop worrying? God's Word says, "Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions … You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met" (Matthew 6:33 MSG).
Promise
So, how can I focus on God and His promises when so many worries attack my mind? God's Word promises to give us the power to overcome our worries as we focus on Him—His presence, His purpose, and His provision.
Focus
This year, I pray you will join me in my journey of Focus 2011 . I'm not sure where I'm going, but I'm praying God will guide me to discover the road to His promised land of rest.
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own" (Matthew 6:33-34 TNIV).
Focus 2011!
