Frustrated with Distractions?

"Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions" (Proverbs 4:23 MSG).

Do you every wonder why you can get so easily distracted? As a writer, I struggle with this issue all the time!

I've got this great idea stirring in my head? So, I grab my pen and paper to take a few notes, before I lose the thought. But first, I have to check my phone (my Droid) for the date. A good note requires an accurate date, right?

While I'm checking the date, I might as well see if I have any text messages. I find only one, but it has a weblink that looks interesting. So, I take a "quick" peek. After I browse through that article, I notice it already has eight comments. Hmmm ...

When I finally make it back to my home screen, I notice that I have 20 new e-mails, and the rest is history.

No wonder I can't get anything of any consequence written these days. And I haven't even checked my Facebook and Twitter yet! Aaugh!

[Now, to post this thought on my blog ... ]

What are your greatest distractions? How do you overcome them?
