Afterthoughts on Thanksgiving

"On Thanksgiving Day we acknowledge our dependence" (William Jennings Bryan).



Thanksgiving Day brought a myriad of emotions and thoughts.  

Truth (allowed God to examine my heart)
 
Happiness (realized my passionate desire for peace and contentment)

Anxiety (alert of all of life’s worries)

N
egativity (understood reality of my pessimism)

Kin (treasured importance of my family)

S
adness (acknowledged my longing for love ones)

G
ratitude (appreciated the blessings in my life)

I
nsecurity (faced the uncertainty of the future)

V
ision (valued my hopes and dreams)

I
solation (expressed the importance of family and friends)

N
earness (made aware of God’s presence)

G
ratitude (needed to count my blessings)

“Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name” (Hebrews 13:15).

    We went to the zoo as a family on the Friday after Thanksgiving and I thanked God for His amazing creativity in making so many different animals! That was a new Thanksgiving thought for me.
