KJ's Turkey Chili

KJ's Turkey Chili

Here's the turkey chili recipe I promised
my Facebook friends!

I revised the Carroll Shelby's Chili Kit recipe that I found in the SparkRecipe section of SparkPeople.com. [I added a few veggies.]

My family loved it (even the kids)!

KJ's Turkey Chili

Ingredients

2 pounds ground turkey
1 green bell pepper diced
1 medium onion, diced
2 celery stalks, diced
1 Carroll Shelby's Chili Kit
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1 (10 oz) can rotel tomatoes
2 (15 1/2 oz) cans ranch-style beans
1 (15 oz) can black beans

Directions

*Brown turkey in large skillet with bell pepper, onion, and celery.
*Add rotel tomatoes, tomato sauce, and 2 (8 oz) cans of water.
*Add the large spice packet of Chili Kit (and salt, if desired) [For hotter chili, add cayenne pepper packet.]
*Add ranch-style beans (not drained) and black beans (drained and rinsed).
*Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, until the flavors are blended and the chili begins to thicken, about 1 hour (or longer, if desired).
[For thicker chili, add mesa packet in Chili Kit with water.]

[I served with hot dogs or fritos with cheese.]

I tried this recipe. Made great "Frito Pies" . I found that a tablespoon of catsup made the chili more to my taste, but the flavor is outstanding.

Glad you liked it, Tuck! I like it as a frito pie, too. Didn't add catsup to mine though...just saying...
