Marty's Peanut Butter Bars

Here's a "sweet" recipe that my 17-year-old grandson, Miles, sent me via e-mail last Christmas! [So, you know it must be a hit with the kiddos.] Miles asked Marty, a lady who works with my husband, Dan, for the recipe last Christmas, when Miles visited Dan's office during the holidays. [The Baptist Building is well-known for it's great recipes and cooks!]

Marty's Peanut Butter Bars

2 sticks oleo or butter, melted
1 1/2 cups crunchy peanut butter
1 1/2 cups crushed graham crackers
1 box powdered sugar
1-12 oz. bag of chocolate chips (or 1-8 oz. bar Hershey's chocolate)

*Mix oleo, peanut butter, graham crackers and sugar together for base.

*Pat (above) mixture into 9x13 pan.

*Melt chocolate over double boiler.

*Pour melted chocolate over base in pan.
.
*Allow to cool (in refrigerator) before cutting.

*Cut into small pieces (this is very rich)

I made this dessert for Thanksgiving this year, and it was a hit with everyone! I loved it because it didn't required much "cooking"—just melting the chocolate. The bars reminded me of a Reeces's peanut butter cup—which are some of my favorite "store-bought" candies.

Hope you will try it Marty's Peanut Butter Bars! I'm sure you'll add her recipe to your favorites.

By the way, be sure to let me know if you try it, and post your thoughts and comments on this blog your response.

Keep cooking!

Karen

What were some of your favorite recipes this year? Did you try anything new, or did you stick with your traditional favorites? Be sure to record some of your recipes and include some stories about them (like when you received them, and from whom).

My family loved these peanut butter bars so much at Thanksgiving this year, they requested that I make them again for our Christmas Eve party. I'll put these on my favorite list for the holidays next year.

Thanks again, Marty, for your recipe!
