Another Childhood Memory
I posted a story that I wrote about my maternal grandfather, called "Smokin' with Daddy Buck,"on the BLESSED Journal this week.
As I tried to capture a memory about Daddy Buck, I thought about his home out in the country. And I also remembered a visit that I made one day with my daddy to the SE Texas sawmill where Daddy Buck worked. I could almost smell the scents of his country home and hear the sounds of the sawmill as I wrote my story.
Maybe some of you have a memory of one of your grandfathers (or even your father) that comes to mind as you read my story. I hope you will take a moment to jot down your thoughts. Then, when you have more time, try to write down more of the details of your memories—maybe a description of your grandpa, his house, or his workplace. You may even recall a certain event that you want to record.
Remember your stories can become part of your legacy that you leave to others. Plus, if you don't write it down, it may be forgotten forever. I hope not!
Keep writing!
