Remembering Sergio

This week, I posted a story on the BLESSED Journal, "Sergio," about a little boy a met in Spain. Sergio not only became my friend, but he proved to be one of my best teachers while I was studying in Spain.

This story brought back so many memories about the time I spent in Spain a few years ago. It's odd how writing one story prompts ideas for more stories. Writing about Sergio reminded me of the people, places, and events of those few weeks of being immersed in the Spanish culture. I learned so much about the people, history, and language of Spain during that summer in language school. But I also learned a lot about myself—my strengths, my fears, my blessings, and my weaknesses.

I hope this story prompts some ideas for you as you consider writing some of you own memoirs. I'd love to hear your response, and I also hope you will share some of your stories with us.

Keep writing! kj
