Change

"We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed..." (1 Co 15:51).

I first noticed that scripture a few years ago painted on a mural in the hallway of our church nursery. I laughed at the connection to the babies in the nursery. But the quote prompted me to research the context of the scripture.

Change is inevitable. And sometimes it arrives when we least expect it—as the scriptures remind us: "...in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye...we will be changed (15:52).

Politicians promise us change—as we've all noticed lately—especially when they want us to vote for them. But often their promises prove to be as empty and meaningless as their rhetoric.

I really do like change at times—as you might notice on my blog today. But I hope the revisions I make in all of my writing improved the quality of my work.

But even though God's Word promises change, the scriptures also encourage us to "...stand firm. Let nothing move you.." in our faith (15:58).

So whether you're facing change or standing firm, remember: "Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain" (ibid.)
